Getting HIV to ZERO

The red ribbon is an international symbol of AIDS awareness that is worn by people all year round and particularly around World AIDS Day to demonstrate care and concern about HIV and AIDS, and to remind others of the need for their support and commitment.

The red ribbon started as a "grass roots" effort; as a result there is no one official AIDS ribbon manufacturer, and many people make their own. It's easily done - just use some ordinary red ribbon and a safety pin!

If you want to take your awareness raising a step further then try finding a local event to take part in. Around the world there are hundreds of activities taking place to mark World AIDS Day, including candlelight vigils, art shows, marches and religious services. If you can't find anything in your area then why not organize an event yourself?

World AIDS Day provides an opportunity for all of us - individuals, communities and political leaders - to take on the challenge of getting to zero.

More than 1500 children become infected with HIV every day. Children may also become infected with HIV through contaminated blood transfusion and or blood products, the use of contaminated needles and syringes, and sexual abuse or exploitation.
Prevention of common childhood infections through appropriate immunization, effective management of common childhood illnesses and malnutrition, and prevention and early treatment of opportunistic infections can improve the quality of life of HIV-infected children. Furthermore, HIV counseling and support of children, their parents and siblings can considerably improve quality of life, relieve suffering and assist in the practical management of illness.

Child Sponsorship Leads To A New Growth For Poor Children

With an increasing amount of poverty around us, it feels pitiable for children that are living a kind of life which is not adorable. We can see a lot of children around us that have been begging on traffic signals, working in shops or factories and houses to earn barely an amount that may not be sufficient for their belly also.

The poor children have been drawn towards child labor by their parents because of the unavailability of enough financial resources. This is such a condition that alarms us to take major steps for re-establishing their life. If their parents are unable to their needs; then, it becomes our responsibility to help them.

After all, we are all a part of one country and this should be done in interest of national growth.

This must be realized as the formal duty of a responsible citizen to give shape to the dreams of a downtrodden child.
